Picture Insect
A self-initiated redesign of Picture Insect, bringing a more elevated, nature-informed approach to its brand and app experience. Inspired by the colours, patterns, and textures of insects, I paired rich plum, vivid green, and warm neutrals with macro photography and a custom beetle mark. The redesigned screens invite users to discover nearby species, identify insects, and collect their finds.

I wanted to make taking an interest in your surroundings feel cool, contemporary, and worth sharing. I drew from the striking colours and intricate patterns of insects to build a visual identity that feels both refined and playful.

Bold typography, close-up photography, and a vivid palette bring often-overlooked details into focus, while the app screens encourage users to look closer, learn what’s nearby, and build a collection of their discoveries.
This project celebrates the beauty in overlooked creatures, making everyday exploration feel fresh, exciting, and worth sharing. An invitation to look closer and get to know the world at your feet.
